practice tracks

just writing to inform people of the dangers of a certain practice area in mid cornwall, baldhu!
the problem is a combination of the owner not wanting to loose money and 4x4s.
there have been two incidents in a week, one broken wrist and a writen off ktm.
when the owner was asked if the 4x4s could be seperated from the bikes the owner said yes,
BUT we would need a club of 50 riders and all pay a weekly amount even if you dont ride, which is ridiculous. we need more practice areas with a designated route to avoid collisions.
someone is guna get seriosly hurt, and all i can say is i wont be riding there again!!
along with a large list of riders, this may make him change his way of thinking.

yer i have 2 say that place is asking 2 get closed dwon. it has 2 change. 4x4 fly around not look out for bike at all. me little nephew ride up there he is only 8 and the 4x4 dont look out for him or slow dwon 4 him! but he wants 520 pound a year in mebership per person and a min of 50 riders 2 change it! if people stop ussing it for 2-3week he would have to change things up there. but i will NOT be riding up there till it changes. hope other people will help us change it for the better of us
this is some of the of the damge the 4x4 did to my bike the exhaust is a right off and not sure about the rim

totaly agree rich.250 that place baldu is dangerous, the 4x4 have even started making home made bull bars out off steel girders. the majority of the bike riders i think are quite considerate towards the 4x4 but on most occasions with no return consideration. i have three young boys learning to ride and most weekends take my eldest on his pit bike for the whole day, he has nearly been struck several times by the 4x4 squad.

I was also preasent the day the ktm was written off by a 4x4, that pulled out into the side of the biker. The driver was out of control after completing a climb and had a 4x3 steel girder structure fitted to the front of the vehicle which struck the bike, if that was a child i cant see them getting up from bing hit by such a structure. I will also not be returning to put mine or my childrens life on the line.

Anyone that takes thier child riding at baldu please stop somebody is gonna be killed.

no mate i dont think you understand the owner isnt prepared to do a vice-versa unless we can get 50 or more riders in a club and pay £10 per week each on direct debit so you pay even if you dont ride there, the 4x4s would have to agree and also form a club, that works out at 52 grand a year so its profit over safty you see, so the idea of the blog is to stop riding there so he sees the error of his ways cheers.

we need all the help we can get to make baldhu a safer and better place to ride.. i have no problems with 4x4`s i know they wreck the ground more than bikes but we need to keep places like this open.. so if we have to share then lets make it a safer place..
im planning a meeting for all people that ride the place or have riden there in the past in early sept.. hopefully people will show there support and turn up.. what do you riders say ???????????????????????????????

well how was the meeting,to be honest i think your just making hassle for us bikers we suffer already from lack of places to practice, and a load of bikers upsetting him aint gonna do us any favours is it.everyone that knows baldhu knows its just a free for all place,4x4 included yet you choose to ride there at your own risk. dont get me wrong it would be great to have seperate days from the 4x4's but that just aint gonna happen.has anyone been on the 4x4 forums and seen how much buisness he gets from them, group 4x4 meets, days out etc etc and all regular, weigh that up compared to the number of bikes that go there and i can see the outcome of who he would rather keep out.us bikers would not even dent his pocket compared to the 4x4 lads.please think about what your doing you will soon be pissed off if he makes it a 4x4 site only.

Adam I think you have missed the point... if you or a mate were knocked off your bikes causing damage to your bikes or yourselves would you be happy ?? I dont think so...
the 4x4 drivers want the same thing as us seperate days...
If you did your maths there are more bikers up there than 4x4`s and i know a lot more that would go back there riding if we had seperate days... the farmer would only gain not loose...
he needs to put back into the place as well... i have suggested getting a digging in once a month but no response....
im open minded and enjoy my riding.. i dont want to be injured by another vehicle... so we need to keep places like this open BUT we need to make them as safe as poss... and that is all we want....
what do you think ??

hi rich to answer yor question"would i be happy if myself or my mates were knocked off by a 4x4"of course not but we know the risks before even entering the gates,im with you that i think it would be better just dont want another place lost to bikes,i'll tell you now the farmer is a friend of a friend in the farming community (which is why i registered with a fake name)and he is hacked off at the minute and its not from the 4x4's now i would never be stopped from riding there but i dont want others spoiling it for themselves.as for him losing buisness well im told thats just not happening.as the 4x4 crew  are growing stronger each monthfurious im all for what your doing really am just dont think its doing anything but hacking him off good luck if you can change it up there then great.and vice versa if i hear anymore from the farmer ill let you know in advance

Adam do you ride bikes ?? who are you ??
Our intensions were never to piss Jo off or get the place shut down.. just improve it and make it safer for all to use.. Try and get some direction in the place.....If and i hope it never happens someone was to get seriously hurt then the place would be shut down... Jo thinks he is above that.... Jo would benifit greatly if bikes and 4x4`s were seperated but he just can not see it.. he wants 50 people to set up a standing order of £10 a week even if you dont ride every week.... Nobody is up for that... if bikes are seperated from 4x4`s he wants £20 to ride there ... we are in a no win situation on both sides... my last sugestion was 1st and 3rd weekends of the month have bikes on sat and 4x4`s on sun and the other 2 weekends as is... i think its the best of both worlds.... what do you think ??
how well do you know him ??

Baldhu is a brilliant place to go and practice , probanbly the best place around. When you come in you sign the entry board thing so that means you are enterin at your own risk. if you are afraid to get into a crash dont come. The 4x4s dont even go fast i have been ridin there for a year and a half and i havnt even had a close call to one .
